Website Features & Requests
Ok...
So we are back. Not as big as before, but website frustratingly had to start from scratch again, hence everyone re-registering. This is because Matt had all the files for the old website, literally everything.... but no database to compliment it... DOH!!!!!
Therefore we are still fresh, many pages to work on, many settings to tweak.
What I could do with your help with is, letting me know what you want on your site.... examples below.
Anything you think we need?
Anything you miss from the old site?
Anything bugs/tweaks needing fix?
Your feedback and suggestions would be most appreciated.
The management will then work on getting all these implemented as best and fast as we can.

This is pretty funny, cause it's a complete repetition of the first time I joined.
So - the maximum number of images allowed in posts needs to be raised to like 40, since it counts smileys (and smileys in quoted texts) and is currently 4.
The time-out, like I mentioned in the other thread.
I once made a feature for the forums, that automatically resized images to fit in width. I think that made it really convinient to post images, but I don't recall exactly how I coded it. Maybe It'll come back to me...
My first suggestion to SOG was a live, AJAX based post monitor. I think you installed a plugin. Maybe we could check if that still exists, and is compatible, cause that was really nice and boosted the activity of the site, because it felt more alive and "conversation-like".
Edit: Added [noparse]Strikethrough[/noparse] tags: Strikethrough

[quote=""Biodome""]I have no knowledge of whether it is possible (if it is, it might also be crazy difficult to implement), but YouTube integration would be an idea. Automatically embedding the video into a post when you paste a link, for instance, would be extremely useful.
Also, in the profile page, it might be worthwhile to allow links to other social media profiles besides Steam, such as Facebook or Twitter. Hardly anyone uses stuff like Yahoo or MSN Messenger these days, so updating that section would provide additional ways of contacting someone.[/quote]
Done... use the Youtube BB code links in the editors going forward like so

[quote=""Freeezer""]I remember of using the userbars It was small and wide picture which gave some hints about a user, like a g36c user, windows xp/7 lover etc You remember those ? Maybe we can make some generator of them ? You upload 4-5 small-wide pics, and it turning them to auto change gif ?[/quote]
I clearly remember what you're refering to, but I don't know how those were actually made. Anyone?

Also added... great shout. Users can now input all social networking information in the USER CP > Edit your details

Surely this can't be that hard to make... I smell a pet project.
