Keeping the community alive

Post by Matt »

Hi friends,

Its been a little quiet around here lately, and I am sure we are all gaming elsewhere or just busy with life.

I have noticed less visits to the site, and more importantly little posting or gaming (myself included).

I am quite keen to keep SOG alive this time. Not only does that mean frequent community visits and activity, but monthly donations to meet our fees. Both are concerns and issues we must address should we all wish for SOG to survive this time round.

I am therefore keen to hear your thoughts on what (if anything) we can do to keep interest in SOG, SWAT4 or simply the website as a team of friends.

Please do post your thoughts, including your own motivations for not visiting or gaming. This can help us decide the future.... hopefully a Ready or Not one.....

last week i have been working on a insurgency server. that should be online now.
I am also looking into a insurgency sandstorm server.

this might give a new game to play until RoN is released.

I was also concerned about how quiet things were around here. The sad truth is that Swat 4 is an old game and just doesn't have the same appeal to keep a community of gamers.

My personal suggestion would be to drop to one Swat 4 server or to stop supporting it completely. Its understandably sad but times are changing and I can only assume that SOG simply got left behind last time, this could be a repeat performance if that was the case.

I think the best idea moving forward is to compile some games that SOG would be suited to and that its users could become passionate about playing, just like Swat 4 was. Insurgency is definitely a good call and providing at least a couple of members are happy to give it a go, I'd pick it up and give it a blast too.

SOG has the potential to be a bustling community again but it needs a place to thrive and Swat 4 just isn't cutting it anymore.. I find it very frustrating to play now, like any aged game with dated mechanics, flaws and bugs.

Let's try insurgency then.... I think we have mentioned this a few times recently and many members would be happy to try it.

Same mate, a game I have played once. I will be the n00b of the century. I think Sander has a SOG server operational. Will get the info and add to site.

sandstorm is not up yet still have the config to do but Thursday is a national holiday so plenty of time then. normal insurgency is UP but if everyone is getting sandstorm that would be better, as that game is way superior to insurgency.
